Selling to Big Companies Selected as Top Sales Blog

Guy20 When serial entrepreneur & bestselling author Guy Kawasaki launched AllTop earlier this year, I immediately developed a serious addiction.

Why? Because this site aggregates all the top blogs in a whole slew of subject areas. I got hooked on the Politics page. With just one click I could see the five most recent posts from virtually all major media sources.

Alltopnew When AllTop launched its Small Business site a few months ago, I was delighted to be included.

Now they just added an AllTop Sales section - and once again, my Selling to Big Companies blog is being featured.

The first time my blog was picked, I chose a small non-pretentious graphic to post on the side bar. But now that it's a double "best of the best" award winner on AllTop, I think I deserve this new banner!

Interview with a Guru

Orginal_guru_logoWhen Dale King from GuruKnowledge contacted me about doing an interview, initially I was thrilled.  Who wouldn't want to be featured as a "guru!" Then I learned that his website was focused on "internet marketing's biggest stars."

"I'm not an internet marketer," I spit out, with great disdain. I couldn't believe he'd lumped me into that slimy group of online scam artists who sell their lame information products at obscene prices. (Do I have an attitude, or what!)

It took Dale a while to calm me down, but eventually he convinced me that internet marketers could be nice people too - like me!

Afterwards, I realized that my own visceral & wildly negative reaction was exactly how lots of people feel when they go in to sales. They don't want to be one of those manipulative, product-pushing salespeople! And I don't blame them. I don't want to be one either.

But it was good for me to feel that feeling again. It reminded me how important it is help salespeople understand that good selling (whether online or in person) is based on creating value & making a difference.

So, after all that, if you're interested in reading my views on internet marketing, click here.

Top Source for Small Businesses

Marketing guru Guy Kawasaki (former Apple exec, author of 8 books) just launched a major new initiative call Alltop - an aggregating website that combines "all the top stories from all the top sources."

My Selling to Big Companies blog has been selected for inclusion in the Small Business section with such noteworthy sites as Entrepreneur, Inc., Forbes, Fast Company, BusinessWeek Online, Microsoft StartUp Zone and more.

Also included in this section are sites by sales & marketing thought leaders such as Seth Godin, Yvonne DiVita, Brian Carroll and Andy Sernovitz.

When you visit Alltop, you can quickly scan the five most recent entries from their hand-picked top sites in each section. And it's not all about business either. Check out their best-of-the-best sites on politics, sports, design, moms and more!

Before you go there, I need to warn you about the addictive nature of this site. Lot's of good stuff on your favorite topics.

Blog of the Day

Sellingtobigcompanies_4 Hip hip hoorah! Yesterday this blog was selected as TypePad's Featured Weblog - an honor bestowed on only one site in the entire blogosphere each day.

According to the State of the Live Web (April 2007), a report published by David Sifry, founder & CEO of Techorati, there are now over 70 million blogs worldwide, of which 15 million are active. Also, approximately 120,000 new blogs go up each day. If you're not a blogger yet, maybe it's time to get online.

Please join me in congratulating myself on a job well done!
